FAQ

Common Questions

Glossary

Key Terms

P/E Ratio

Price-to-Earnings ratio. A stock's current share price divided by its trailing twelve-month earnings per share. Used to gauge relative valuation within a sector, not across sectors.

Free Cash Flow

Operating cash flow minus capital expenditures. The cash a business generates after maintaining its asset base. Stonkly's AI weights it most heavily in fundamental scoring, particularly for capital-light businesses.

EPS

Earnings Per Share. Net income divided by diluted share count. The headline figure in every earnings report, and the basis for most valuation multiples including P/E.

Short Float %

The percentage of a stock's publicly tradeable float that is currently sold short. Readings above 20% signal elevated bearish consensus and create conditions for a short squeeze if the thesis breaks.

MACD

Moving Average Convergence Divergence. A momentum indicator built from the difference between 12-day and 26-day exponential moving averages. Bullish when the MACD line crosses above its signal line on rising volume.

RSI

Relative Strength Index. A bounded oscillator (0–100) that measures the speed and magnitude of recent price changes. Readings above 70 signal overbought conditions; below 30 signal oversold.

10-K

The annual report filed with the SEC by US public companies. Contains audited financial statements, management discussion, and risk factors. Required within 60–90 days of fiscal year end.

8-K

A current report filed to disclose material events: earnings releases, executive changes, M&A announcements, and regulatory actions. Filed within four business days of the triggering event.

Earnings Beat

When a company's reported EPS exceeds the analyst consensus estimate. A beat on both EPS and revenue is the strongest configuration. Stonkly tracks consecutive beat streaks in every company profile.

Sector Rotation

Capital flows from one market sector to another as the economic cycle evolves. Typically moves from defensives (utilities, healthcare) into cyclicals (industrials, materials) as growth accelerates.

Market Cap

Share price multiplied by total shares outstanding. Determines index membership: large-cap (>$10B), mid-cap ($2B–$10B), small-cap ($300M–$2B). Screener filters apply this automatically.

Insider Activity

Purchases and sales of company stock by officers, directors, and 10%+ shareholders. Required to be reported on SEC Form 4 within two business days. Tracked in every Stonkly company profile.
